'Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon' (ALL) Announced - Screens & Trailer

'Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon' (ALL) Announced - Screens & Trailer

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon will release later this month on 3DS, PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, Vita, and Xbox One. The game is an 8-bit style game that Igarashi originally promised as a stretch goal for the Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Kickstarter campaign. Backers have been asked to specify which platform they would like to access the spin-off game on, but they found out the hard way that GOG.com was not one of those platforms. Another interesting feature in Curse of the Moon is its leniency; where kicking the bucket normally would have resulted in repeating previous sections, recruited allies can now take your place.

Igarashi added that this upcoming spin-off game was being developed by Inti Creates, a Japanese developer that collaborated with the Bloodstained developers on the Kickstarter.

Inti Creates has done similar retro versions of modern games before. You can check out the official trailer for the game below.

While Ritual of the Night harks back to Symphony of the Night and later Castlevania games, Curse of the Moon looks back further into the series' history for inspiration, with trippy music, a limited colour palette and a small set of animations.

One particular backer, Stephan Sokolow, explained why people prefer DRM-free versions of games and the principle behind the desire to own such copies, writing... It has a lot of retro charm, and I had a great deal of fun with it.

Inti Creates announced that Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon is coming out on May 24th.
