Militants from Pakistan attacked Mumbai: Sharif

Militants from Pakistan attacked Mumbai: Sharif

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has admitted that militants thriving in his country were responsible for the 2008 Mumbai attacks in which 160 people were killed. "This disclosure of Sharif would definitely embarrass Pakistan army and ISI on the global platform".

The PTI chairman also alleged that Nawaz tried to save his corruption by targeting the apex court, joint investigation team for Panama Leaks case and army.

Pakistan was frontline ally in the war against terrorism, he said, adding the entire world is witness to our sacrifices and tremendous achievements in eradicating this menace. He was trying to become a hero by acknowledging that.

The ousted PM was questioned why Pakistan has not yet completed the trial in the 26/11 case.

Voicing the Government's stand, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Hansraj Ahir said, "We always maintained that Pakistan is behind terror attacks here".

"Our narrative is not being accepted".

The petition was filed by ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Noor Aawan.

India has long accused Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba of carrying out the attacks in Mumbai on 26 November, 2008, that left 166 people dead and many injured after 10 terrorists with backpacks, automatic weapons and grenades launched a three-day siege on India's financial capital targeting multiple locations.

Sharif also said that Pakistan's version of its commitment to fight terror was not being accepted by other countries.

In an interview to an english daily, dawn, in Pakistan Nawaz Sharief was candid enough to admit that the horrific attacks were conspired and planned in Pakistan. The trial appeared to reach a dead end in Pakistan a year ago after its court said that no progress can be made until the 24 Indian witnesses named in evidence dossier are examined by Pakistani authorities. There can only be one government: "the constitutional one", he said.
