Investigators have not revealed the motive behind the shootings, with Cockman only saying he previously enjoyed a close relationship with Katrina's parents.

It is about 12 miles northeast of Margaret River, a popular tourist destination known for its wineries, surfing and natural beauty.

However the 61-year-old was looking for "vineyard and farm work" in the region as recently as Wednesday.

One of the deceased was found outside the house.

He purchased the 30-acre farm in late 2014 alongside along with his spouse Cynda.

The children were on the Autism spectrum, said a friend of the family, who is in the same home-schooling network. "He was going to meet with me at 10 o'clock [on Saturday]".

Investigations into the tragedy continue. Also, police do not conduct searches of the suspects, because there is a suspicion that the killer was one of those killed was a suicide.

"This is a much-loved family, a big part of the Margaret River community", Mettam told reporters. "There was just a lot of love in that family".
