Google introduces Google One to replace Drive online storage plans

Google introduces Google One to replace Drive online storage plans

A new Google service will offer you more bang for your buck when it comes to cloud storage.

That Alone could be intriguing, given how simple it's to max out 100 GB using 4K movies and high-res pictures nowadays, but there's another feature here which clarifies the new brand name: complimentary one-tap accessibility to Google Pros for help with nearly any Google customer merchandise and support. It will also add more versatility for those who opt for the basic free account with 15 GB of storage.

Google's paid storage plans are set to become more affordable this year, following the roll-out of the new "Google One".

Existing 1 Terabyte customers will be upgraded to the new 2 Terabyte plan for $9.99 per month automatically by Google, and all other users will be upgraded to Google One as well in the coming months. There will be a total of six plans with between 100 gigabytes and 30 terabytes of storage space. The new Google One addition will not impact G Suite business customers.

Also, Google announced changes in the tariff plans of the service. Of course, every member will get their own private storage space. One plans will still start at $1.99/month for 100GB, but the company is also adding a new 200GB plan for $2.99/month. However, the company is making Google One available on a limited basis for now, starting with the US. Google Drive allows up to 15GB of free storage per Google account, after which you'll have to cough up $20 a year for 100GB to your Google Account.

You can pay $99.99 per month for 10TB of storage, $199.99 per month for 20TB, and if you want the 30TB option, you'll need to fork over $299.99 per month. Plus, Google says it may hand out free Google Play credits to buy apps, music and movies, and offer other sorts of deals as well. Google One users will also get one-tap access to experts for help with Google's consumer products and services.

Notable aesthetic changes include a new Google Drive logo in the top left of the screen, a white background, an updated "New" button, and a new font for the headers.

For now, Google is moving slowly, rolling out Google One in the US over the next few months, and globally after that.
