Marcus Smart calls out JR Smith for 'dirty' play

Marcus Smart calls out JR Smith for 'dirty' play

Marcus Smart wasn't happy when J.R. Smith shoved Al Horford in the fourth quarter of the Boston Celtics' Game 2 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Now facing an 0-2 deficit, it appears the Cleveland Cavaliers will remain at full strength when they return to face the Boston Celtics in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Marcus Smart and Smith exchanged shoves after the incident and had to be separated, with each player being whistled for a technical foul.

Smith received a "flagrant foul - type 1" for his boneheaded foul on Horford with 3:49 on the clock.

I don't know if I would call Smart an enforcer, but he kept the Cavs on their toes, and like he said after the game you can't let someone just pick on you. "He's known for it, especially playing against us", Smart said.

Smith pushed Al Horford while he was up in the air as he was going for a dunk. "That's not why I'm here", Smith said, per ESPN's Dave McMenamin.

That means we can expect to see more chippiness between opposing players as they look to gain a psychological and physical advantage. "One of my guys was down and I took offence to it".

Who else in the league would've channeled their energy into making plays rather than ruckus like Horford? "I can understand why they gave me a flagrant". Is expecting Smith to make a basket (or maybe even one free throw) really asking for too much, though? It wasn't like I was trying to low bridge him or something. Hard fouls. Everything you could ever want in playoff basketball!
