Woman Mauled To Death By Pack Of Small Dogs, Police Investigating

On 17 May 2018, numerous publications picked up on an odd local news story out of Carter County, Oklahoma, reporting that a woman had been mauled and killed by a pack of small dachshund dogs. The euthanasia expert, Amanda Dinwiddie, confirmed six of the canines were "a mix of dachshund and terrier, while the other was believed to be a border collie mix". Garcia was mauled at the intersection of Banyon and Mary Niblack roads and later died from her injuries, according to KTEN. One of the dogs was shot after attempting to attack a responding officer, KXII reported. Not one of the seven dogs weighed more than forty pounds. Bryant also said the district attorney's office will review the case next week to decide if charges will be filed. The dogs ranged in age from 1 to 3 years old.

Neighbors say dogs running loose in the area are a common occurrence.

The remaining dogs were destroyed at the request of their owner.

"This is a bad situation, a very unfortunate situation", Carter County sheriff Chris Bryant told KTEN. Reports indicated that the dogs' bodies were then sent to Ardmore Animal Shelter for cremation. All animals were heavily infested with fleas and ticks. "This is just a bad deal all the way around".

She added: 'They have really noticeable characteristics like their knobby legs, knees, very short-legged dogs and their coats'.

The vet hospital said the animals won't be tested for rabies: a decision Dinwiddie understands.

"There were seven dogs - three were females, four of them were males", Dinwiddie said.
