'First Man': Ryan Gosling is Neil Armstrong in biopic

'First Man': Ryan Gosling is Neil Armstrong in biopic

The first trailer premiered Friday, June 8, timed with Ryan Gosling's appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live". Armstrong's wife, Janet, is played by Claire Foy. For First Man, he's packing him into a rocket and sending him to the moon. Ryan Gosling and his La La Land director Damien Chazelle reunited to adapt the movie based on James Hansen's book First Man: A Life of Neil A. Armstrong.

Universal Pictures has released the first poster for First Man, giving hopefuls an up-close-and-personal look at Gosling as Armstrong.

Chazelle has rounded up a spectacular cast, which includes Kyle Chandler, Pablo Schreiber, Jason Clarke, Ciaran Hinds and Corey Stoll, among others and it has our space nerd sense tingling. However, on viewing the trailer [VIDEO] of "First Man", it is clear that Armstrong went through some terrifying and uncertain days, training for his mission to the moon. Does the poster remind you of one for Mission: Impossible as it does me?

The film focuses on the lead-up to and events of that fateful event, chronicling Armstrong's life from the early 60s up until his historic achievement.

What's striking here is how much they're playing up the danger and the risk, both elements we tend to forget about because the mission was a success.

So far, the Best Picture race appears to be MAJOR SLIM PICKENS so First Man will be like that first hunk of meat thrown to starving lions. "You're not just going to work".
