Britain says hopes US will honour G7 commitments on trade

A photo of US President Donald Trump locking eyes with the leaders of France, Germany and Britain at the G7 summit quickly went viral, sparking heated discussions on social media and making headlines in mass media as well.

Trudeau's remarks have enraged U.S. President Donald Trump, who tweeted hours later that he had instructed U.S. representatives not to endorse the G7 joint communique "based on Justin's false statements at his news conference, and the fact that Canada is charging massive Tariffs to our U.S. farmers, workers and companies".

Asked about Trump's threat to target USA tariffs against cars - a vital industry for Germany which supports over 800,000 jobs - "we will have to think again about what we'll do", Merkel said.

French President Emmanuel Macron's office reacted Sunday by saying that "international cooperation can not be dictated by fits of anger and throwaway remarks". "Let us be serious and worthy of our people", the statement added.

The July crude contract was down two cents to US$65.72 per barrel and the July natural gas contract was up five cents to US$2.94 per mmBTU. We stick to it.

"[Trudeau] really kind of stabbed us in the back", Kudlow said. "You know, it's like the gig is up". We have seen this with the climate agreement or the Iran deal. "To build that up again will take much longer", he told reporters in Berlin.

Last year, the United States president was wowed by a French military parade in Paris after being invited to join Mr Macron for his country's annual Bastille Day celebrations.

Despite Trump's withdrawal and decision to double down on restricting foreign goods entering the U.S. market, Merkel insisted that she would continue to hold talks and work together with the president. "I was talking about disillusionment, which is a lot for me already".

With arms crossed, eyes squared, Trump certainly seemed irresolute about the trade measures. This year, quite a bit happened like US President Donald Trump asking for Russian Federation to be readmitted to the summit although Merkel was having none of it. Russian Federation was kicked out in 2014 because of its occupation of Crimea.

Trump has repeatedly raked up the issue of India imposing high import duty on the iconic Harley-Davidson motorcycles and threatened to increase the import tariff on "thousands and thousands" of Indian motorcycles to the US.

The chancellor also announced during Sunday's interview that, just like Canada, the European Union was also preparing counter-measures to Trump's steel and aluminum tariffs. Navarro also said Trump attending the G7 in Canada was a "courtesy" to Trudeau and that the President had "bigger things on his plate" in Singapore. And what did Trudeau do as soon as the plane took off from Canadian airspace?

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Saturday that all G7 members had endorsed a joint communique.

The US President addressed the subject of global trade during an impromptu news conference at the summit Saturday, saying that he did not want to see other countries take advantage of the US over trade.

"He's not going to tolerate that, nor should he", Graham said on Fox News.
