Cohen likely to cooperate with federal prosecutors

Cohen likely to cooperate with federal prosecutors

Gasparino said that Fox Business has confirmed that one of Cohen's attorneys, Stephen Ryan, could drop out of the case.

A federal judge has set a June 15 deadline to determine which records from that raid fall under attorney-client privilege.

A retired judge is reviewing more than 3.7 million items seized in the Federal Bureau of Investigation search to determine whether they should be held back from investigators because they are privileged attorney-client communications or are personal.

It wasn't clear what prompted the change or who would take over.

Earlier this week, Vanity Fair and the New York Daily News reported that Cohen has been telling friends he expects to be arrested any day now.

Neither Cohen, Ryan nor Harrison immediately responded to messages Wednesday.

Cohen will hire a new lawyer for the next phase of the probe, the person said. Those papers are expected to include Cohen's personal financial dealings, including a $130,000 payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels on Trump's behalf before the 2016 election. When reached for comment by Vanity Fair, the lawyer replied, "Your alleged source is wrong!"

A person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press on Wednesday that Cohen's current legal team plans to stop handling the case and that Cohen has begun a hunt for new attorneys.

Any cooperation by Cohen with prosecutors would represent a significant blow to Trump, whose campaign is under investigation for alleged collusion with Russian Federation and who regularly expresses acute frustration with investigators. "It's an attack on all we stand for", President Trump said during a meeting with senior military leadership at the White House in April.

Fox Business correspondent Charlie Gasparino reportedly that an attorney for Michael Cohen has "complained for some time" that legal bills are not being paid.
