Thai cave rescue: Boys lost two kilograms during weeks in cave

"Twelve wild boars and coach are out of the cave".

Saman Gunan was a retired Thai navy diver who was volunteering in the rescue efforts.

"I could not be more excited; this story has meant so much to me as I followed it", PureFlix managing partner Michael Scott was quoted as having said. "It was Mission Possible for Team Thailand".

Thailand said it had called on 13 "world class" divers to help with the unprecedented job, one of whom was Australian Richard "Harry" Harris, a diver and professional anaesthetist.

This email will be delivered to your inbox once a day in the morning. You can sign up to receive it directly here. We ask to pray that this operation is a success. "We love each other".

"I'm hoping for good news".

President Trump tweeted his congratulations, describing the emergence of the last four boys and their coach as "such a lovely moment". On Monday, four more were brought to safety.

The 31cm-wide custom submarine would make the boys passive participants in the rescue and could potentially shorten the journey, which took divers a total of nine hours in the second successful rescue operation on Monday. Roaring cheers greeted the helicopters flying overhead carrying the kids and their coach to a hospital 35 miles away.

This is the third mission that has been undertaken by the Thai authorities in order to rescue the young boys, who became trapped in the cave by rising floodwater several weeks ago. "We were so scared and anxious". "I can not understand how cool these small kids are".

"I want to hug him. and I want to tell him that I'm happy", he said.

The Tham Luang cave system will now be closed for some time, prime minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha said. "Who the hell would give that to a kid?" he told the Bangkok Post.

"The boys are still requesting the Thai basil fried rice, but they're not allowed to eat it yet", they said.

The "Wild Boars" soccer team and their coach got trapped on June 23 while exploring the cave complex in the northern province of Chiang Rai after soccer practice and a rainy season downpour flooded the tunnels.

Rescuers had been racing against time because monsoon rains were expected to kick up this week.

The soccer teammates rescued from a flooded cave in Thailand lost weight during their 18-day ordeal and in the days before their discovery survived by drinking water dripping into their refuge, a health official said Wednesday.

But the efforts to rescue the boys - aged between 11 and 16 - have proved a monumental challenge.

The rescue mission began on Sunday morning, almost a week since the 12 boys, aged 11-16, and their coach had been discovered on an embankment 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) inside the winding tunnels.

"The kids are footballers so they have high immune systems", he added. We've started giving them "medical food" this morning.

The group remains in quarantine in a Chiang Rai hospital where one of the last batch of people to leave the cave has "lung conditions", he said.

The Wild Boars were offered free tickets to the FIFA World Cup final in Russian Federation on Sunday, but unfortunately they will still be under observation in hospital and are unable to attend.

"Please get out fast!" read another.

Crowds at the teeming rescue site cheer the good news, but attention soon turns to the hard task of getting the boys out safely.

"Just returned from Cave 3".
