I don’t fear for my England T20 career, says Joe Root

I don’t fear for my England T20 career, says Joe Root

Root was dropped from the three-match T20I series decider against India which England lost by seven wickets on Sunday.

He said: "I don't have any fears about it, I want to see us being as complete a side as possible in all three competitions, but I want to be a part of them".

The ODI team have lost only four of their last 20 completed matches since September past year and return to Trent Bridge, where they set a world record 481-6 against the beleaguered Australians last month - Hales making 147 and Jonny Bairstow 139 in a 242-run win.

"I know I said 10 days ago that he wouldn't get left out", Farbrace said. India's ODI series in England can be considered an important step towards preparing for 2019 Cricket World Cup, which is scheduled in England and Wales.

England's Test captain watched on as India chased down a target of 199 easily, opener Rohit Sharma hitting an unbeaten century to secure a seven-wicket triumph for the tourists.

"It's a big day for me", Kuldeep, whose return was also the best by any spinner against England in ODI cricket, told Sky Sports.

'I've just got to make sure I keep putting the work in to take the chances I do get to keep my name as current as I can in that format. In the recently concluded three-match T20I series, India's spin-twins Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav showed the audience what they are capable off. It can't have been an easy one for them to make but that is part and parcel of having a really strong squad.

The Yorkshireman added: "Becoming captain of the Test side I had those hard decisions to make and ultimately you are trying to pick the best team you think is going to win on any given occasion".

England set a new ODI record of 481 for six when they beat Australia in Nottingham last month.

But with England hoping he would cut loose late on, Buttler was instead dismissed when a glance off Kuldeep was well caught down the legside by veteran wicket-keeper MS Dhoni.

"I think it is unsafe to start thinking too far ahead (in terms of predicting high scores)". I think both the games there has been more turn than on the grounds that we have played on and that is one thing probably that we have identified.

"It might be the case, it might not, but ultimately it's about winning the series and coming out of what has been an impressive white ball summer".

England batsman Alex Hales has been ruled out of the entire one-day worldwide series against India with a side strain.

Indian team is playing an ODI after a long gap as it last played an ODI during the finals of Nidahas Trophy where India defeated Bangladesh in March. "He's our best player, a fantastic player in all forms of the game", Farbrace added. "Playing spin against India is a challenge we will hopefully improve on but today we were off the mark".
