Chelsea confirm Antonio Conte's sacking with terse statement

Chelsea, who are no strangers to relieving managers from their contracts early, claim his sacking his justified, referencing the Italian's handling of Diego Costa's transfer to Atletico Madrid and his increasingly poor relationship with many first-team players as reasons behind Conte's dismissal this month.

Antonio Conte's two-year tenure as Chelsea manager which began with a bang last year after winning the Premier League title ended sourly on Friday with the club announcing they had parted company with him.

Meanwhile, Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri is rumoured to be on the verge of being appointed as the new boss at Stamford Bridge.

Sarri's arrival could also pave the way for Jorginho to complete his move to Chelsea soon.

Reports suggest Chelsea will draft in Maurizio Sarri to fill the managerial void.

The Italian boss joined Chelsea in 2016 and led them to the league title in his debut season along with an FA Cup triumph last campaign. "Good luck for the future".

May's FA Cup final success means Conte - who managed Juventus from 2011 to 2014 - has won a major trophy in each of his past five seasons as a club manager.

Conte's average of 2.14 points per game in the Premier League is bettered only by Alex Ferguson (2.16) and Guardiola (2.34).

It's been a disastrous summer at Stamford Bridge thus far, with the club yet to make any new signings.

Many will argue the move is a harsh one, as Conte was decent throughout his reign and he can leave with his head held high as the Blues did not have a trophy-less season during the two terms under his tutelage.

Antonio Conte: Premier League 16-17, FA Cup 2017-18.

Chelsea made an official announcement in which the club statement which read, "Joao Rodriguez will spend the coming season on loan in Spain".
