WhatsApp rolls out group video call feature

WhatsApp rolls out group video call feature

Its parent company, Facebook, announced back at its F8 conference in May that it was building the feature for both WhatsApp and Instagram. In fact, our users spend over 2 billion minutes on calls per day.

The calls are end-to-end encrypted and the feature will be available to Android and iOS users, it added.

To use it, start a call with just one person, then tap the "Add participants" button in the top-right to invite more friends.

In an official blog post the company said, "Over the last couple years, people have enjoyed making voice and video calls on WhatsApp".

WhatsApp notes that its group video and voice calls are end-to-end encrypted, and it has been created to work properly across the world with varying network conditions.

Today, WhatsApp has officially announced that group calling for both voice and video is finally here. "It has also been pointed out that such a platform can not evade accountability and responsibility, especially when good technological inventions are abused by some miscreants who resort to provocative messages, which lead to spread of violence". WhatsApp has introduced a dedicated button for group calls dubbed "add participant". In WhatsApp, the number has been kept to 4 people in total. And while WhatsApp may not offer that, it does give iOS and Android users a way to all communicate in a group call together.

Now up to four people can get involved.

Facebook is revamping Messenger with new functionalities.Various businesses use the app to send and receive 8 billion messages every month. Click on "add participant" icon on the call screen to add participants.
