David Luiz pledges his future to Chelsea after season in virtual exile

Chelsea have lodged a £35.5 million offer for Juventus and Italy defender Mattia Caldara, as their patience over the transfer of his club teammate Daniele Rugani wears thin, as per reports from the Evening Standard.

Luiz's prolonged absence from Conte's matchday squad in the second half of last season was publicly attributed to a knee injury. He belongs to Inter and the situation is hard, but is is clear that we are interested in good players.

Jorginho joined with Maurizio Sarri whilst Rob Green signed on a free transfer from Huddersfield.

Chelsea have tabled a €55m bid for the 23-year-old centre-back and have been confident of getting a deal over the line with Juventus.

However, a deal has failed to materialise and Chelsea have been forced to look at other options.

But it appears the Chelsea board did not agree.
