Super swimmer! Kid actually named Clark Kent breaks longstanding Michael Phelps record

Swimming at the Far Western Long Course Championships in Moraga, Calif., Apuada finished the 100-meter butterfly in 1:09.38, besting Phelps's 23-year-old, 10-and-under meet record of 1:10.48 by more than a second.

If your name is Clark Kent Apuada, there's really only one nickname that could work, and on Sunday, the 10-year-old who goes by "Superman" took down a record that had been set by 23-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps way back in 1995.

To defeat a legendary swimmer such as Michael Phelps, whose many records are almost impossible to outdo, it would take a superhero like Aquaman - or even Clark Kent.

The retired professional swimmer and owner of 28 Olympic medals, was quick to praise Clark on social media for his record-breaking swim, telling him to "keep it up". That is more than a second faster than what Phelps managed at the same competition, the Far West International Championship in California, over two decades ago in 1995.

Clark, though, has only been swimming competitively for four years, and is just out there having fun.

"The kid is unlike any other young man that I've ever coached", Apuada's coach, Dia Riana, told CNN. "He's just - he's kind of a savant".

"He does piano lessons, he does martial arts, and at school, if there's a computer class, coding, or STEM programs he's always joining", the proud dad said.

He said swimming is his favorite because of all the support from family and coaches. "But when they realize his full name, people just call him Superman", Cynthia Apuada said.

Despite his enthusiasm, Clark said the load doesn't get too heavy.
