Google Clock gains Spotify support for alarms

Google Clock gains Spotify support for alarms

The integration might also help Spotify to gain more users as someone who uses a different client or service for music streaming might now opt to use Spotify in favor of the new alarm feature.

Google has updated its Clock application on the Play Store, which is honestly a pretty boring app that gets pretty boring updates.

According to the blog post, the latest versions of the Spotify app and Google clock app have to be installed to enjoy the new "beep" alternative. Despite the service's large music catalog, the actual user experience has driven many users back to alternatives like Spotify. The tab shows your recently played music, Spotify's curated playlists, and a search button so you can find anything you want.

The ability to wake up to Spotify tunes is something that users have been requesting for some time as they tire of awakening to the typical alarm tones.

It's a pretty curious choice considering Google could use YouTube Music or Google Play Music, but went with Spotify instead.

This feature will be rolling out globally, and will be available on devices with Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and above.

Once you turn off the alarm, you'll see an option to "Continue Playing." offering a seamless way to continue listening and set you up for a productive day with Spotify.

The feature will be available for Android users within the next few days. Well, Google might have just got the flawless solution for you. Roman said that, in the future, this could be fixed by adding a drop-down menu that'll filter out musicians you've followed on YouTube Music.
