‘Facts of Life’ actress Charlotte Rae dies at 92

She previously battled pancreatic cancer in private, telling the outlet that the public was unaware she was undergoing chemotherapy until she announced her recovery. She has 93 acting credits to her name, according to TMZ.

Charlotte Rae, who played a wise and patient housemother to a brood of teenage girls on the long-running sitcom "The Facts of Life" during a career that encompassed many other TV roles as well as stage and film appearances, has died. And they all wanted a hug from me!

She passed away peacefully at her home in Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon, Strauss said, and was surrounded by her family at the time of her death.

'I love life. I've had a wonderful one already ... Rae won a Prime Time Emmy Award nomination for the role in 1982.

Mrs. Garrett began on the show "Diff'rent Strokes" (1978-84.) She also briefly reprised the role on the shore-lived "Hello, Larry". "No, no, no! If people had a positive experience with Mrs. Garrett, that makes me so happy!"

In her April 2017 statement, Rae also said, "At 91, every day is a birthday". A few years later, she originated the role of Mammy Yokum in the Broadway musical "Li'l Abner".

She received Tony nominations in 1966 for "Pickwick" and in 1969 for "Morning, Noon and Night".

Todd Bridges, who famously played young Willis Jackson along Rae's Mrs. Garrett on Diff'rent Strokes, paid tribute to all of his late costars: "RIP IN PEACE ALL OF MY CAST MATES".

"She played "the Twitch" and other iconic comic television roles on the Phil Silver's Show and created the role of Sylvia Schnauzer on TV's classic, vehicle 54 Where Are You?" Her other son, Andrew, died of a heart attack. Strauss died in 2011.

Rae is survived by her sister, Miriam Guten as well as son, Larry, his wife, Eleanor Strauss, grandchildren, Sean Strauss, Carly Fox and her husband Ethan Fox, and Nora Sidoti Magdol and her wife Katrina Sidoti Magdol and their daughter Louisa Sidoti Magdol.
