‘Mission: Impossible’ Bests Winnie-the-Pooh at Box Office

‘Mission: Impossible’ Bests Winnie-the-Pooh at Box Office

"Mission: Impossible - Fallout" topped ticket sales for the second straight weekend with an estimated $35 million despite newcomer "Christopher Robin".

The latest movie in the franchise took in an estimated $US35 million over the weekend, easily winning the weekend box office for a second straight week and putting its domestic total over the $US120 million mark.

In a year where the studio has already notched three $1 billion films worldwide ("Black Panther", "Avengers: Infinity War" and, as of this week, "Incredibles 2"), the more modest Winnie-the-Pooh live-action revival opened with a relatively ho-hum $25 million. Fox's YA dystopian thriller is battling a bleak 19% average on Rotten Tomatoes, though audiences seem slightly more enthusiastic with a B CinemaScore.

"We're in awe at the power of this film since February", Taff said.

We think it's a pretty cool addition to the title and it adds much needed variation to a game which can get very repetitive, just like what Thanos did for Fortnite.

Blame the memes. For several months now, Chinese authorities have been trying to ban images of Winnie the Pooh after several bloggers compared Chinese leader Xi Jinping to the bear. Fallout, effectively Mission Impossible 6, hit theaters last week and PUBG Corp is capitalizing on its likely long tail with an in-game event.

Not all the news was great.

Elsewhere at the box office, Bo Burnham's "Eighth Grade" earned US$2.8 million when it expanded nationwide.

In third was another new release, Lionsgate s "The Spy Who Dumped Me", at $12.4 million.

And a pair of poorly reviewed releases sputtered in nationwide release. The documentary, now has a 0 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, is the lowest wide release to date for the right-wing conservative filmmaker.
