Real Madrid and Chelsea Agree Kovacic-Courtois Swap Deal

Real Madrid and Chelsea Agree Kovacic-Courtois Swap Deal

As confirmed on the club's official website, the Croatian midfielder will spend a season with the Blues, who reportedly have the option to sign the player permanently at the end of the deal.

In recent months, however, the Belgian has become increasingly unsettled, while he has always been linked with a return to the Spanish capital where he spent three sparkling seasons.

However, speculation over that transfer has cooled in recent weeks and it appears the 27-year-old will begin his seventh season with Chelsea when their Premier League campaign starts at Huddersfield Town this weekend.

Kepa said: "It's a very important decision for me, for my career, and also for my personal life".

Terry's former club made a surprise move to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga on Wednesday evening, paying Athletic Bilbao a world-record £72million fee for a goalkeeper.

Kepa´s arrival at Stamford Bridge came shortly after Chelsea had agreed to sell Belgian worldwide ´keeper Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid for a reported fee of 35 million euros.

"Many things attracted me to this club, all the titles the club has won, the other players, the city and the Premier League".

The 26-year-old is poised to sign a six-year deal with the 13-time European champions and be officially unveiled as a Los Blancos at 12:00 BST time on Thursday at the Santiago Bernabeu.

"I'm very glad Chelsea has chose to trust me and to take me in as well".

His arrival could pave the way for Tiemoue Bakayoko to leave Chelsea, with reports in Italy claiming that AC Milan are interested in taking him on a season-long loan with an option to buy next summer.

One of the main storylines of this summer's transfer window was would happen with the future of Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and what Chelsea would do at the goalkeeper position.
