Natasha Howard helps lead Seattle Storm to WNBA title

The 2016 UConn graduate put her name on another Wednesday night when she and the Seattle Storm finished off a three-game sweep of the Washington Mystics in the WNBA Finals with a 98-82 road victory.

Stewart, who was named the WNBA's regular season MVP, also earned WNBA Finals MVP honors for her performance in the series, averaging 25 points per game.

She had 10 assists and 10 points in Seattle's championship-clinching win against Washington on Wednesday. The now WNBA champions won the battle of the boards, 39-28, and shot a ridiculous 13-for-26 from beyond the arc.

Elena Delle Donne scored 23 points for the Mystics.

"We're here in front of our home crowd and we're fighting", Mystics guard Kristi Toliver said.

The location, George Mason University, marked the third arena Washington has called home this season and the second in the playoffs. Players were selected by position and received five points for each First Team vote and three points for each Second Team vote.

Both teams rely heavily on the 3-point shot.

"I gotta say, as exciting as it is to have the Storm making playoff noise - I'm anxious that everyone's not on the same page".

"We understand that the difference here is we have a chance to win a championship and not just advance to the next round", Bird said.

The Storm got their first taste of life without Bird in the semifinals when she broke her nose and had to sit out the remainder of Game 4 against Phoenix. Washington refused to use her bone bruise as an excuse, but with the season over, the star forward expounded on her limitations.

Tierra Ruffin-Pratt sank a three-pointer with 6:49 left to cut Seattle's 16-point lead to five (72-67). Obviously this Finals didn't go the way we wanted it to, but I think the great thing is that we can still improve. "I felt more and more uncomfortable as we kept going". The two of them learned how to play off each other. "We went through that and now I think we'll handle it much better".

Howard was a deep reserve for Minnesota during the Lynx's title run past year, averaging 1.1 points and 0.9 points. "Best feeling in the world".

"And I didn't know if I would be back to the Finals ever again". "Those are huge. Those are huge because not only is she going to score, she's going to distribute well". "We're only out there on the court a little bit of time together, but the moments that we spend hanging out in the airport, playing 'would you rather, ' hanging out, getting dinner together, those are the moments that are so special, and what we're actually probably going to miss the most now that this season has ended".
