Seahawks, Mychal Kendricks close to signing deal

Seahawks, Mychal Kendricks close to signing deal

The Seattle Seahawks are expected to sign veteran linebacker Mychal Kendricks, according to multiple reports Thursday night. He was immediately released from Cleveland, where he had signed a one-year contract in the offseason. The person spoke to the AP on the condition of anonymity because the team had not announced the signing. According to US attorney William M. McSwain, Kendricks was able to profit due to the fact that he was receiving insider tips from TV writer Damilare Sonoiki.

Notwithstanding a legal trouble that could lead to a lengthy jail time, linebacker Mychal Kendricks is on the verge of making a return to National Football League action. The scheme reportedly earned Kendricks $1.2 million worth of profits.

According to ESPN.com, the team brought in former Browns linebacker Mychal Kendricks for a visit on Thursday.

Kendricks and Goldman Sachs analyst turned Black-ish TV writer Damilare Sonoiki were indicted August 29 on insider trading charges pertaining to investments made four years ago.

The Browns released Kendricks shortly after he was indicted.

The 5-foot-11, 240-pounder recorded five total tackles and one sack through three preseason games with the Browns.

Sonoiki had been working as a junior analyst at Goldman Sachs but left the financial field and has most recently been writing for TV shows.

In a statement released by his lawyer the day he was charged, Kendricks said he was sorry and takes full responsibility for his actions.
